Test Information

The GMAT is a skill based reasoning test that measures critical, logical and analytical reasoning skills as well as such elements as time management and efficiency in problem solving. GMAT test scores are used by admission offices of MBA and other graduate programs to objectively compare applicants from different parts of the world.
The GMAT has 4 components:

Analytical Writing Assessment (30 minutes) – Analysis of an Argument in essay form.
Integrated Reasoning (30 minutes) – 12 data sets in various formats are used to measure data handling skills.
Quantitative Reasoning (62 minutes) – 31 multiple choice questions of the Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency types.
Verbal Reasoning (65 minutes) – 36 multiple choice questions containing Sentence Corrections, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension.

Test takers are allowed to choose the order in which they take the sections of their test.

The GMAT is computer adaptive: the difficulty level of questions is adjusted to the performance of the test taker.

The GMAT score report consists of separate scores for each of the 4 components and an aggregate GMAT score between 200 and 800. The GMAT score is only based on the Quantitative and Verbal multiple choice sections. The Analytical Writing Section and Integrated Reasoning Section are scored separately.
